Nissan #ProJackets Golf Report

Nov. 22, 2016

THE FLATS – A Georgia Tech golf alumni reunion of sorts came together last weekend when 10 former Yellow Jacket stars teed it up in the RSM Classic at Sea Island, Ga., the final fall event on the 2016-17 PGA Tour schedule.

When the night fell, literally, on the five-man playoff that took place at the end of Sunday’s final round, Ollie Schniederjans went home with his best finish yet on the PGA Tour, a tie for sixth place, and Stewart Cink continued his resurgence during the fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule by tying for 10th place.

Read more about their weekend performances in Steve Hummer’s story in Monday’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Schniederjans rose as high as second place on Saturday, when he shot his second 66 of the weekend, and remained within striking distance of the playoff with six birdies on Sunday before settling for a 68 and a 72-hole total of 268 (-14). After missing three cuts this fall, the 2014 Tech graduate earned $194,250 and rose to 63rd in FedEx Cup points.

Cink recorded his third straight top-15 finish after , his best round ever on Tour. He continues to take advantage of his career money exemption to leap to 32nd in FedEx Cup points, giving the 1995 Tech graduate and six-time PGA Tour winner some momentum heading into January, when the schedule resumes.

Three other Yellow Jackets made the 36-hole cut – tied for 27th place at 272 (-10), tied for 45th (-7) and Bryce Molder tied for 54th (-6). , , and made the cut but did not finish.

In the final round of The RSM Classic 2016, holes out from off the green for birdie on the par-4 16th hole of the Seaside Course.

Great finish to an incredible year of golf. First top 10 on the pgatour. Nice way to close 2016.…

Following his opening-round 62 at The RSM Classic 2016, Stewart Cink talks about the mental changes he has made to his game.

Following his third-round 67 at The RSM Classic, talks about hanging in there and performing when needed.

At the end of the fall schedule five former Yellow Jackets – Cink, Schniederjans, Tringale, Kuchar and Castro – are among the top 125 in FedEx Cup points.

That's a wrap on golf for 2016! Thankful for the opportunities I had to play great courses and tournaments against the best in the world.
