Hello, My Name is ... Michael Hines

Dec. 11, 2014

THE FLATS – The No. 2 junior golfer in the state of Georgia and 48th nationally (AJGA) in the class of 2012, Michael Hines signed with Tech in the early signing period in November of 2011. He played in seven events as a freshman before red-shirting in the 2013-14 academic year.

Hines started three times this fall, posting a T46 at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, a T42 at the Jerry Pate National and a T10 at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. He posted his first career top-20 finish competing as an individual at the U.S. Collegiate Championship (1-under-par 215). He secured his first career top-10 finish with a career-low 54-hole score of 206 (10-under-par) at the Makai Invitational. He finished the fall with a 72.00 stroke average over 12 rounds.

Hines, who has made the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2013 and 2014, has had two holes-in-one, one at age 12 and one at age 18. Both of his parents, Craig and Lauren, were track and field athletes in college.
