THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis dropped a tight 4-3 decision to Tennessee at the Goodfriend Tennis Center on Friday evening.

No. 86 Carlos Divar led the Yellow Jackets (2-1) as he captured his second victory over a nationally ranked opponent in singles. After a hard-fought 6-4 first set, Divar made quick work of No. 36 Timo Stodder, 6-0, to take the No. 1.

Elijah Melendez battled in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 spot to capture his third duals victory. After taking the first set against Adam Walton, 6-3, Walton fought back to tie the match up with a 6-3 win. Melendez would prevail in a hard-fought 10-point tiebreaker, 10-6 to improve to 3-0 this season in duals.

Tech’s final win of the day came at the No. 6 position where Michael Kay downed Luca Wiedenmann. Kay came back to take the first set 6-4 before serving out to take the second, 7-5.
