Tallahassee, Fla. - Guillermo Gomez and Kevin King picked up singles wins, but Florida State picked up the doubles point and straight-set wins at Nos. 2-4-3 in singles to clinch a 5-2 win Sunday in the Atlantic Coast Conference men's tennis opener for the Yellow Jackets.

Florida State, the nation's 18th-ranked team improved to 7-1 overall, 2-0 in the ACC, while No. 38 Tech dropped to 7-3. The Jackets return to action Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. match against Georgia State.

The Seminoles won close victories in all three doubles matches, with Andre Bucaro and Anderson Reed teaming for an 8-6 win against Tech's Magin Ortiga and Juan Spir at No. 3, and Jean-Yves Aubone and Clint Bowles outlasting Gomez and Ryan Smith, 9-7, at No. 2.

King, a sophomore from Peachtree City, Ga., evened the match for Tech in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, over Jordan Kelly-Houston. It was King's second consecutive straight-set win after an eight-month injury layoff.
