CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis (10-2) topped Miami (6-4) 5-1 on Sunday afternoon to move to 3-0 in ACC play. Due to impending inclement weather, singles matches were played first, forgoing doubles play.

Singles Update: Senior Cole Fiegel remains undefeated on the season with a 9-0 record, notching the first point of the match for the Jackets with a 6-3, 6-1 rout of Nile Clark at the five position. Junior Daniel Yun took care of business at the six spot, defeating Kevin Bondar, 7-5, 6-2. Senior Carlos Benito gave the Jackets a 3-0 lead, finishing off Max Andrews in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5. Playing at the two position, No. 87 sophomore Andrew Li clinched the win for Tech with a 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 rout of Christian Langmo.

After Tech clinched the win, freshman Carlos Divar fell to Jesse Flores in three, 7-6, 1-6, 6-4. Junior Christopher Eubanks came back from a first set loss to secure the final point for the Jackets with a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory.

Doubles Update: Due to the possibility of inclement weather, doubles matches were not played.

Head coach Kenny Thorne says: “The weather looked shaky so we decided to play singles first to have the best chance of getting the match finished. It was another reason we try to stay prepared for the unexpected. Miami came out and played tough all the way through the lineup. Our guys once again did a great job of fighting through adversity. We were down at No. 1 and No. 2 singles a lot of the way but hung in there and got the wins. We did a good job at No. 5 and No. 6, getting up early. We now get a weekend off and get ready for Wake Forest.”
