THE FLATS – Casey and Michael Kay captured an 8-5 win over Auburn to reach the A draw finals in doubles, highlighting the second day of competition for Georgia Tech in the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

SINGLES UPDATE — Five Tech players are entered into the singles draw this weekend — senior Casey Kay, sophomores Michael Kay, Elijah Melendez and Daniel Yun, and freshman Andrew Li. Casey Kay and Yun won their opening round matches Friday but lost their quarterfinals matches on Saturday in three sets in the C draw. Kay fell to Georgia State’s Andrei Andrukhou, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-0, while Yun dropped a three-set decision (6-3, 6-7, 6-4) to South Carolina’s Harrison O’Keefe in the B draw.

In the consolation bracket. Michael Kay routed Alejandro Valencia, 6-3, 6-1, in the A draw to advance to a semifinal date against Georgia State’s Zach Kennedy. Melendez fell 6-2, 6-2 to Andres Torres of UNC-Wilmington, and Li was outlasted, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2, by Andrew Schafer of South Carolina, both matches in the B draw.

DOUBLES UPDATE — Kay and Kay pulled out an 8-5 win over Eddie Nguyen and Joseph Van Dooren of Auburn after getting a service break at 6-5 and Casey Kay served out the match at love. The advanced to the A draw finals against Arkansas’ Santiago Munoz and Michael Redlicki, who eased past Tech’s Melendez and Yun in the other A draw semifinal.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION — Two rounds of singles in the winner’s bracket of all four divisions, plus one consolation round, were played Saturday, as well as one round of doubles in the winner’s bracket of each division.

The tournament has a 64-player singles draw and a 32-team doubles draw with championship matches on Sunday. Back draw finals also will be played Sunday. Doubles matches are 8-game pro sets, singles matches 2 out of 3 sets. No-AD scoring is utilized for all matches.

A total of 64 players represent 11 teams — Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, The Citadel, UNC Wilmington.

PARKING ALERT — Parking for Sunday is available in the McCamish Pavilion lot, 8th Street or Fowler Street.
