TULSA, Okla. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis sophomore Carlos Divar came all the way back from a 4-6 setback in the first to down Buffalo’s Ethan Nittolo in the first round of qualifying at the 2017 ITA All-American Championships on Monday morning.
Putting the first-set loss in the rear-view mirror, Divar managed to edge Nittolo 6-4 in the second to even up the match at one apiece and equalize the playing field.
Carrying his momentum from the second into the pivotal third, the Yellow Jacket handily took the set, 6-2, securing his spot in the second round of the All-Americans.
The second-round matchup will feature Divar and
Divar and Moore will square off at 10:30 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Later in the day, Divar also teamed up with Chris Yun to face Kai Lemke and Matt Story of Memphis in qualifying doubles play. The Yellow Jackets would not advance to the second round, falling 6-2, 6-2.
