THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis looks to wrap up its regular season on a high note as it hosts No. 26 Notre Dame and Boston College on April 20 and 22 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
The Yellow Jackets (5-15, 1-9 ACC) are coming off a grueling stretch of five-straight top-25 opponents.
The 26th-ranked Fighting Irish (15-12, 5-5 ACC) have struggled on the road, just 3-5 overall and 1-3 in neutral site matches, but are currently in the midst of winning three of its last four. Notre Dame is led in singles by Alex Lebedev, who currently sports a 16-14 overall record and 4-5 ACC record to achieve his team-high No. 42 record. Richard Ciamarra comes in this week at No. 119 with a 17-20 (3-6 ACC) record overall.
In doubles, Brendon Kempin and Tristan McCormick jumped into the rankings this week, now currently at No. 49. They’re currently touting a 9-11 record overall and are 4-5 in conference, winning its last three.
The Eagles enter this weekend with a 6-13 overall record and a 1-9 ACC mark. BC has lost 11 of its last 12 matches, but is coming off arguably its biggest win of the season against then-No. 42 Miami at home, 4-3. In singles, Derek Austin leads the team at the No. 1 (6-7), but Gereon Heitmann has the best record for the team (7-3) from the No. 2 spot this season.
In doubles, Heitmann and Max Palmer lead from the No. 2 position with a 6-2 mark. The teams of Austin and Sean Mullins and Kent Mukai and Conor Mullins both have 5-6 records from the No. 1 and 3 courts, respectively.
The Yellow Jackets are led in the rankings by Carlos Divar, who enters this week at No. 61 in the country. The main No. 1 player for Tech, Divar currently has an overall record of 14-16. In doubles, the tandem of Michael Kay and Divar rank 17th nationally, holding to a 15-7 overall record and 11-5 dual mark. Junior Chris Yun has been the story of late, not having lost since March 18 when he re-entered the lineup – good for a win streak of six-straight.
First serve is set for 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, with the annual Senior Day ceremony taking place during the intermission between doubles and singles play on April 22. Georgia Tech men’s tennis will recognize its three seniors, Michael Kay, Elijah Melendez and Daniel Yun for their contributions over their careers.

Due to other events on campus, parking on Friday is available free of charge to fans and spectators in the Family Housing deck. Parking for Sunday’s match will be available to fans in the McCamish Lot.
