Eubanks Named ITA All-American

TEMPE, Ariz. – Capping off an impressive junior campaign, Georgia Tech men’s tennis junior Christopher Eubanks earned ITA All-American honors as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Thursday afternoon.

Eubanks received ITA all-America honors for the second straight year. With no shortage of accolades in his three years on The Flats, Eubanks was named the ACC Player of the Year for the second straight season in early May, earning first-team All-ACC honors. He received the USTA/ITA Sportsmanship Award during the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in November. In late May, Eubanks was named the 2017 recipient of the National Division I ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.

The 6-foot-7, two-time all-American has not lost a match at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in two seasons, playing at the No. 1 position for the Jackets. Eubanks is tied for fifth in Georgia Tech history for career wins with 90 total wins in his three years on The Flats.

Eubanks advanced to the quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships in October, receiving an automatic berth to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, where he reached the semifinal round. The junior partnered with North Carolina’s Haley Carter to win the mixed doubles title at the Oracle ITA Masters. He was selected to the represent the United States at BNP Paribas Master’U, helping the United States to its sixth straight title.

The Atlanta native tallied a 31-6 record on the season with an 18-2 mark in dual match play. Eubanks has been ranked in the top 10 amongst collegiate players since April 2016, reaching a career-high ranking of No. 4 this season. He received the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship for his third straight bid. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championship, the first for Tech since Bryan Shelton in 1988.
