Jackets Finish Out Time At NCAA East Regionals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On day three of the NCAA East Regionals at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida, Julienne McKee earned yet another spot in the NCAA Championships with her ninth place triple jump finish of 13.13m (43-1).

The mark was a personal best for the sophomore who also qualified for the national championships in the long jump on day one of the meet. The mark is also the fourth longest in school history.

Also competing in the triple jump was Jhanelle McLeod who finished with a distance of 12.93m (42-5.25) in 13th place, just out of the top-12 who moved on to NCAAs. The mark was also a personal best for the junior.

In the men’s pole vault, Aaron Unterberger also finished with a personal best height of 5.27m (17-3.5) for a 15th place finish in the event. Nikita Kirillov, Tech’s school record holder, finished the day with a 27th place height of 5.02m (16-5.5).

Rounding out the day was Mykhail Chambers who finished 25th in the high jump with a height of 2.07m (6-9.5).

McKee will be back in action in a couple of weeks from June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa at the NCAA Championships in the long and triple jumps. Joining her will be Shawn Roberts who qualified for the meet in the 800m run on Friday.
