Bartlett Earns NCAA All-American
Georgia Tech track and field sophomore finished 15th in 800m semifinal
EUGENE, Ore. -- Georgia Tech track and field sophomore Avery Bartlett finished 15th in the men's 800m semifinals at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday night. The finish earned Bartlett NCAA Second Team All-American honors.
Wrapping up a historic sophomore campaign, Bartlett raced to a 15th-place finish in the 800m semifinals with a time of 1:47.84, just one tenth of a second shy of his career best set in the quarterfinals at the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington, Ky. Bartlett did not advance to Friday's finals.
His all-American status capped off an already successful season, in which Bartlett rewrote the Georgia Tech indoor track record in the 800m and earned all-ACC second team honors at the 2017 Outdoor Track and Field ACC Championships in both the 800m and 1500m.
Sophomore Jeanine Williams will compete on Thursday in the women's 100m hurdles semifinals. Her event is slated to start at 5:32 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
