Tech Completes Day One of Commodore Invite

NASHVILLE – Georgia Tech indoor track and field finished the first day of the Commodore Invitational, having a fine opening night in the meet on Friday.

The Yellow Jackets conclude the two-day Commodore Invitational tomorrow morning. Action begins at 10 a.m.

Women’s Highlights

Georgia Tech owned the 4000-meter DMR when it’s B-squad (Hana Herndon, Kendria Edouard, Nicole Fegans and Liz Galarza) took first place with a time of 12:08.64 and it’s A-squad (Amy Ruiz, Haley Anderson, Erin Gant and Hailey Gollnick) finished second with a 12:20.79 time.

Madeline Hammond finished 13th in the long jump, hitting a mark of 1.53 meters, before Bria Matthews represented Tech in the long jump with a fifth-place finish, hitting a distance of 5.51 meters. Raven Stewart also finished just two places back from her with a 5.47-meter mark while Dasia Smith finished 10th with a 5.20-meter finish.



Senior Domonique Hall finished 10th in the 2000-meter run, tallying a time of 25.36. Other Tech finishers included Angelica Henderson (15th – 25.57) and Marinice Bauman (25th – 26.35). Junior Dasia Smith also finished 38th with a time of 27.65.

Men’s Highlights

Freshman Hunter Mallard finished tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 4.80 meters in the event.

Senior William Solomon paced Tech in the long jump with a second-place finish at 7.20 minutes. Fellow senior Ryan Thomas finished eighth overall (5.42-meter).

In the 4000m DMR, the Yellow Jackets’ B-squad (Frank Pittman, Anthony Steets, John Lyons and Sam Costa) finished third with a 10:04.08 time while their A-squad Alex Grady, Dwayne Watkins, Tyler Whorton and Braeden Collins) finished just a spot back with a time of 10:04.61.
