Tech Track Returns To Action At Kentucky Invite

ATLANTA – For their first track meet of 2012, the Georgia Tech track and field teams will travel up to Lexington, Ky. for the Kentucky Invitational held at Nutter Field House. The meet will begin on Friday, January 13 and will conclude on Saturday, January 14.

The meet marks the first of the new year for Tech who are coming off of a good showing at the Orange and Purple Winter Classic at Clemson all the way back in the beginning of December.

Also joining the Yellow Jackets at the meet are the Arkansas, Bellarmine, Marshall and Vanderbilt women, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia, host team Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Middle Tennessee State, and Tennessee.

Competition Friday begins at 6 p.m. ET with four different field events kicking things off. Saturday’s competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. The two-day event is free to the public and live stats will be available at UKathletics.com.

This is the first of two meets that the Jackets will participate in at Nutter Field house this season. They will return to Lexington in a couple of weeks for the Rod McCravy Invitational on January 28 and 29.

The Jackets have already begun their winter track season after taking part in the Orange and Purple Winter Classic back on December 4. The Jackets came away from the meet with two first place finishes; Rick Scheff in the 1,000m run and Aaron Unterbergerin the pole vault.

Over 15 Jackets also finished the meet out with top-10 finishes, highlighted by Perron Jones’ third place finish in the 60m dash and his fourth place finish in the 300m dash.
