Georgia Tech Track Hosts Yellow Jacket Invite

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team is set to host the Yellow Jacket Invitational Friday and Saturday at Griffin Track. Action begins Friday at 6 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Tech welcomes 11 teams to Griffin Track, including Alabama, Alcorn State, Auburn, Chattanooga, Georgia, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

The Yellow Jackets will compete in 27 events, including two events the Jackets haven’t competed in yet this season – the javelin throw and shot put. Monique Pate and Ashleigh Uhl are slated to compete in the javelin throw and Pate is also entered in the shot put.

In its most recent action, Tech shined at the Alabama Relays last weekend with three first-place finishes. Senior Aaron Unterberger took first in the pole vault and set a new personal outdoor record, for the second straight weekend junior Jonathan Gardner took first in the triple jump and reshman Alexander Reese won the 400 meters.
