Tech Track Heads To World Famous Penn Relays
The meet will be held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia

ATLANTA - Coming off of a 10th place finish at the ACC Championships, the Georgia Tech men's and women's track and field teams will head right back out on the road, this time to the World Famous Penn Relays in Philadelphia at Franklin Field. The meet will run from April 26-28.
Thirty-two athletes will head to the meet, 16 on the men's side and 16 on the women's side. The meet action will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the 400m hurdles which Jasmine Isley and Ama Larbi will take part in. At 1 p.m. Melanie Akwule, Jamilah Middlebrooks, Christina Pensock, and Stephanie Kalu will take part in the 4x100m relay.
Jasmine Kent and Julienne McKee who took fourth and fifth place respectively at the ACC Championships in the long jump will compete alongside Jhanelle McLeod at 4 p.m. followed by the women's distance medley relay (Morgan Jackson, Middlebrooks, Laura Serres and Maureen McMeekin) at 5:20 p.m. The day will conclude with the women's 4x400m relay featuring Isley, Pensock, Larbi and Kalu.
However, the night brings about some distance competition. Eric Powers will start things off with the 3,000m Steeplechase at 7:40 p.m. Betsy Kim will compete for the women in the 5,000m run while Patrick Barron and D.J. McMillan tackle the same race for the men. The night will finish at 10:55 p.m. with the 10,000m run featuring Mary Kate DuBard and Katie Townsend on the women's side and Doug Black for the men.
On Day two, Mykhail Chambers and Brandon Mbaba will begin things with the high jump at 10 a.m. followed by McLeod competing in the triple jump at 11 a.m.
The track events will begin at 3:50 p.m. for Tech whol will have Melanie Akwule complete in the 100m hurdles at 3:50 p.m. followed by the men's distance medley relay at 4 p.m. starring Joseph Stowe, Adonis Gaines, Cameron Reid and Jeremy Greenwald.
The meet will conclude with the 4x800m relay, a Penn Relay favorite as Jackson, McMeekin, Serres and Rachel Hammond will run for the women with Alec Clifford, Shawn Roberts, Zach Fanelty and Rick Scheff found on the men's side of things.
