1,500 Meters Highlights Day One at Duke Twilight

The Georgia Tech track and field team finished the first day Wednesday at the Duke Twilight at Morris Williams Track & Field Stadium. Seniors Brandon Lasater and Jeremy Greenwald were the one-two punch in the 1,500 meters.

Lasater won in the event in a time of 3:44.68 with Greenwald crossing the line in second in a time of 3:45.62. Morgan Jackson led Georgia Tech in the women's 1,500 meters with a fifth-place finish in a time of 4:26.37.

Donjhae Jones placed seventh with a distance of 5.78m (18-11.75) in the long jump to start the first day of competition. Alex Braxton followed in ninth with a personal-best mark of 5.56m (18-3). In the final field event of the day, Samantha Becker took fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.90m (12-9.50).

Braxton kicked off the running events with a personal-best 100-meter hurdle time of 14.33, and Marinice Bauman ran a season-best time of 14.39. Also in the hurdles, Ama Larbi placed sixth (59.64) in the 400-meter hurdles, Shannon Innis took eighth (1:00.28), and Marinice Bauman placed 10th (1:01.46).  


 

 

Jazmyne Taylor took seventh in the women's 400 meters (56.06) and Alexander Reese finished 14th on the men's side in a time of 48.63.

The Yellow Jackets continue action at the Duke Twilight on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. with the women's high jump.
