Tech Track Heads Down To North Florida For Last Chance Meet
The meet will take place at Hodges Stadium.

ATLANTA - After a week off, the Georgia Tech track and field squad will return to the track when they head to the North Florida Invitational on May 13 and 14 in Jacksonville, Fla. at Hodges Stadium. The meet will be a final tune up for the Yellow Jackets before the NCAA East Regionals.
Tech is coming off of a successful showing at the Penn Relays where senior Leslie Njoku won the 400 meter hurdles in a field of 55 competitors while setting a career best time and freshman Julienne McKee earned a third place finish in both the long and triple jumps.
This weekend's meet will begin Friday at Noon with the hammer throw. The field events will take part in the first half of the day and the running will conclude the first day's events. Following the hammer is the women's pole vault and men's long jump at 3 p.m., the men's shot put at 4 p.m., the women's long jump at 5 p.m. and the men's pole vault and women's shot put at 6 p.m.
The six o'clock hour will also kick off the first running events of the meet as the 100 and 100 meter hurdle trials will begin. The 100m dash will follow at 6:20 p.m., then the 1,500 meter run at 6:45 p.m., the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 7:05 p.m. and finally the day will conclude with the 5,000 meter run at 7:30 p.m.
Day Two will once again begin with the field events, this time the women's discus and high jumps will start things off at Noon. The men's discus will take place at 1:30 p.m. followed by the triple jump at 2 p.m. and all of the field events will end with the javelin at 3 p.m.
The track events will begin with the 4x100 meter relay at 2 p.m. followed by the 800 meter run, the 100 and 110 meter hurdles finals, the 400 meter run, the 100 meter dash finals, the 400 meter hurdles, the 200 meter dash and will end, as usual, with the 4x400 meter relay.
The Jackets will use the meet as a final tune up for the NCAA East Regionals that will be held May 27-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
