Jonathan Gardner Qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Georgia Tech track and field team wrapped up day two at the NCAA East Preliminaries Friday hosted by North Florida at Hodges Stadium. Jonathan Gardner qualified in the men’s triple jump for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships set for June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.

A senior from Chicago, Ill., Gardner placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 15.86m (52-0.50) to earn a trip to his second career NCAA Outdoor Championships.  

Broderick Snoddy ran to a time of 10.48 in the men’s 100 meters, but did not qualify to move forward to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. Snoddy also competed in the 200-meter preliminaries and his career-best time of 21.07 qualified him for the semifinals on Saturday at 7:35 p.m.

Brandon Lasater ran in the semifinals of the men’s 800 meters, logging a time of 1:49.70 for 16th place.

In the field events, Samantha Becker competed in the pole vault with a height of 3.75m (12-3.50).

Saturday’s events include the quarterfinals of the 1500 meters (6:30 p.m.) and 200 meters (7:35 p.m.). Jeremy Greenwald will run the 5000-meter semifinals at 8:05 p.m. In the field events, Nikita Kirillov will compete in the pole vault (12 p.m.) and Julienne McKee takes on the triple jump (5 p.m.).
