Heather Van Norman
Assistant Coach






Heather Van Norman, a 12-time NCAA all-America, begins her third year as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech. She works with the Rambling Wreck sprints, relays and field events.

Van Norman previously served two years as the assistant women's track coach at Rice, where she coached the 1997 NCAA Indoor Champion women's 4x400 relay team.

Van Norman is currently working on her M.S. in Cardiac Rehabilitation from Louisiana State. A Dean's List student, she was awarded her B.S. in Fitness Science from LSU in May, 1994.

While at LSU, Van Norman won National Championships in the Indoor and Outdoor 4x100 and 4x400 relays three straight years from 1991-93.

She helped the Tigers extend their streak of outdoor national team titles to seven consecutive years. LSU also swept the SEC Indoor and Outdoor championships each year from 1991-93.

In 1991, shw was part of the team that set the American record in the 4x200 relay. In 1992, Van Norman won the SEC indoor title in the 400 meters and competed in the 400 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Van Norman began her collegiate career at the University of Minnesota, where she was named Freshman Track Athlete of the Year.

She is a charter member of the Minnesota High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
