NC State Game Notes

Georgia Tech faces a quick turnaround when the Yellow Jackets take on NC State at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCamish Pavilion. The contest with the Wolfpack can be seen on ESPN3 and heard on WREK 91.1 FM.

The Jackets will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday. There will be a pregame Q&A with Tech female student-athletes and at halftime Tech will honor the 2013 class of Women Out Front. Following the game, there will be an autograph session with the Yellow Jackets.

Tech will take on the Pack less than 48 hours after playing at No. 22 Florida State on Friday night. It is one of two times this season when the Jackets played on Friday night and on Sunday afternoon.

Last season, Tech defeated NC State three times, including a decisive 87-61 win in the ACC Semifinals, sending the Jackets to only their second ACC Championship Game. It was the first time in five years that Tech beat an opponent three times in a year.

Georgia Tech has beaten NC State four straight times and five of six times at home under head coach MaChelle Joseph.

CLIMBING THE SCORING LADDER
Ty Marshall is climbing the Georgia Tech career scoring chart in her third year on the Flats.

Marshall entered her junior campaign on the outside of the top 26 – all 1,000 point scorers – and has climbed to 14th through the Florida State game with 1,281 points. LeeAnn Woodhull is 13th all-time at Tech with 1,302 points and Stephanie Higgs is 12th with 1,315 points.

RECENT TREND
NC State may hold a 40-22 all-time series lead over Georgia Tech, but the Yellow Jackets have owned the series over the last 10 years.

Tech has won four straight games over the Wolfpack, the Jackets’ longest streak in the series. GT has also won seven of the last eight against NCSU. Since the 2002-03 season, Georgia Tech has gone 10-4 against NC State.

TRIFECTA
In three games against NC State last seaosn, Tech averaged over 79 points per game, shot 46 percent from the field and dominated the boards, 47-34 per game, en route to three wins including an 87-61 victory in the ACC Semifinals.

BIG GAME TY
In Georgia Tech’s eight games against ranked opponents this year, junior Tyaunna Marshall has stepped up.

Marshall is averaging 18.5 points while shooting 44 percent from the field against AP ranked foes. She has nearly twice as many points (148) as the next Jacket. She has scored in double digits against every ranked opponent this year, including 26 at No. 14 Purdue, 26 at No. 22 Florida State and 23 at No. 4 Duke. She

Marshall also leads Tech in rebounds with 7.4 in those games. Her 18 steals are tied for team best and her 23 assists against ranked opponents are second on the Tech roster.
