Jackets Open Road Stretch at Clemson Sunday

THE FLATS — After a brief stint at home, the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team hits the road for two matches beginning at Clemson. Tip on Sunday is slated for 2 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.

THE STARTING FIVE…
1. Georgia Tech looks to snap a three-game skid opening a two-game road swing at Clemson tomorrow. Fans can listen live on WREK 91.1/WREK.org or watch live on ACC Network Extra.
2. Clemson leads the all-time series 43-34 and leads when competing at home, 22-15. The Jackets, however, have taken the last five straight meetings and 21 of the last 23. The Tigers last won on their home court in 2006.
3. Tech is in the midst of a stretch of playing four of five games on the road and seeks its first victory in the stretch on Sunday. The Jackets close out the swing at Virginia on Thursday.
4. Kaylan Pugh led the Jackets against nationally-ranked Florida State last Thursday. The Jacket drained a game-high 23 points, five points of matching her career-high, to lead Tech in scoring for the third time this season.
5. Head coach MaChelle Joseph is in her 14th season on The Flats and carries an all-time career record of 265-169. Joseph is the all-time winningest coach in program history and holds the highest winning percentage in Yellow Jacket history at 61.4 percent.

A WIN WOULD…
-Move Georgia Tech to 14-7 on the season and push its road record to 4-3
-Mark the sixth straight win over Clemson
-Move the all-time series record to 43-35 in favor of Tech
-Snap a three-game skid and give the Jackets their third ACC win this season
-Mark Coach Joseph’s 266th career win at Georgia Tech and give Georgia Tech its 641st all-time program win

LAST TIME THEY MET
Georgia Tech and Clemson met twice last season in less than a month with the Jackets taking both decisions. The Jackets took the second meeting 77-48 in McCamish Pavilion with five players scoring in double-figures. Tech dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Tigers 42-26, including 19 offensive boards that the Jackets converted into 23 second chance points. Helping seal the win, Tech hit 21-of-23 free throws, while limiting Clemson to 13-of-24. Clemson shot just 10.0 percent in the fourth quarter, hitting one field goal in the 10 minutes and scored just eight points in the frame.

LAST TIME OUT
Georgia Tech dropped its third straight game after meeting its fifth nationally-ranked opponent in seven outings. The Jackets kept a tight hold on No. 6 Florida State, but ultimately fell to the Seminoles, 69-63. Two Jackets reached double-figures as Kaylan Pugh led all scorers with 23 points. She was joined by Zaire O’Neil with 12 points to lead the Jackets. FSU shot 45.3 percent from the field to capture the win compared to Tech’s 39.7 percent efficiency. Georgia Tech grabbed its only lead of the game early in the fourth quarter, but the advantage was short-lived as the Seminoles answered with an 11-2 run that put them in the lead for the remainder of the game.
