Virginia Game Notes

Coming off a thrilling 89-82 overtime win against Wake Forest, Georgia Tech will make its first trip to Charlottesville, Va., to face the Virginia Cavaliers since Jan. 24, 2010. The Jackets and Cavaliers will tip off at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, on the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks with Mike Hogewood and Debbie Antonelli calling the game.

Only four current student-athletes were on the last Tech team to travel to UVA and only Sharena Taylor played. Taylor, then a freshman, started and finished with four points, three assists and two rebounds.

Freshman Brittany Jackson led all scorers with 20 points, including five 3-pointers, when Tech and Virginia played at McCamish Pavilion on Jan. 10. Tyaunna Marshall and Aaliyah Whiteside each finished with 12 points.

In the Jackets’ last outing, Marshall was dominant as she tied her career-high of 28 points and set new career-bests with 17 rebounds and seven assists to lead Tech to a victory. It was the 19th time in her career Marshall has scored at least 20 points and it was her 10th career double-double. Freshman Roddreka Rogers tallied her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

DOUBLE THE FUN
Tyaunna Marshall and Roddreka Rogers each recorded double-doubles in the win over Wake Forest. It was the 10th career double-double for Marshall and the fifth this season. It was Rogers’ first career double-double.

Marshall tied her career-high with 28 points and set a new personal-best with 17 rebounds, including 10 offensive. Rogers, a freshman, set new career-highs with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

DOUBLING UP WAKE
Junior Tyaunna Marshall has finished with double-doubles in the Jackets’ last three games against Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are the only team Marshall has more than one career double-double against.

YOUNG GUNS
In three of Tech’s last four games, head coach MaChelle Joseph has started four freshmen and a sophomore. Georgia Tech is the third youngest team in the ACC with six freshmen and a sophomore.

DONEHEW IS ACC LEGEND
Former Georgia Tech sharpshooter Danielle Donehew was named Tech’s 2013 ACC Legend. Donehew set or tied the Yellow Jacket single-game record for 3-pointers in a game five times. Her 241 career threes were the Tech all-time record when she graduated and still ranks ninth all-time in the ACC.
