Jackets to Face Boston College in Opening Round of ACC Tournament

THE FLATS — Georgia Tech women’s basketball, seeded 10th, will open the 2017 ACC Tournament on Wednesday facing 15th-seeded Boston College. The Jackets and Eagles will tip at 3:30 p.m. on RSN.

The 40th annual ACC Tournament is set to take place March 1-5 at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. All games will be televised during the tournament.

Tech defeated Boston College in Boston during the regular season, taking a 71-67 decision over the Eagles. The Jackets are 10-5 all-time against Boston College and have never faced each other in the ACC Tournament.

Tech owns a 6-6 record when playing in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The Jackets last played in the first round in 2015, defeating 14th-seeded Clemson, 80-53. Overall, the Yellow Jackets are 16-37 in the ACC Tournament and 11-13 under head coach MaChelle Joseph.

All 14 games of this year’s tournament will be televised. The first, second and quarterfinal rounds will be carried by the league’s regional sports network, RSN and ACC Network Extra. Both Saturday semifinal games will be carried nationally with the noon game on ESPN2 and the second game carried by ESPNU. A national audience will also watch Sunday’s championship game via ESPN2.

This year’s tournament features seven teams ranked among the nation’s top 25 in the latest Associated Press poll with Notre Dame at No. 5, followed by No. 8 Florida State, No. 13 Duke, No. 14 Louisville, No. 17 Miami, No. 18 NC State and No. 20 Syracuse.

Notre Dame earned the top-seed for the fourth consecutive year.
