Just two days after upsetting No. 16 Duke, the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (16-13, 6-9 ACC) heads to Wake Forest (11-18, 2-13 ACC) to wrap up the regular season on Saturday at 2 p.m. 

A WIN WOULD…
– Be the 230th win of Coach Joseph’s career, making her 230-147 overall
– Give Georgia Tech its 605th program win and put Georgia Tech at 605-574 overall over 40 years of women’s basketball
– Make the Jackets 6-2 on the road vs. Wake Forest
– Be the third-straight ACC win for the Yellow Jackets
– Make Tech 39-24 vs. Wake Forest all-time

– Sophomore Kaela Davis became the 28th Yellow Jacket and fastest player at Tech to reach 1,000 points after scoring 24 points at Notre Dame. She played in 52 games – the previous record was 55 games
– Senior Sydney Wallace became the 27th Yellow Jacket to score 1,000 career points after recording 10 points against Lipscomb
– 11 of Tech’s 13 losses were to teams receiving votes or ranked in top 25 polls at the time

HISTORIC WIN
The Yellow Jackets most recently upset #16/17 Duke, 71-62, at home. The win broke a 37-game losing streak to Duke  for Tech’s last win against Duke was at home on February 27, 1994, 61-56. It was the Yellow Jackets’ first win against a top-25 opponent since the Jackets defeated No. 13/11 North Carolina on Feb. 6, 2014 last season. Joseph has now won 12 games against ranked opponents in her career.  The Yellow Jackets held Duke to a season-low 19 points in the first half and held them to a 20.6 shooting percentage (7-for-34).

ACC LEADERS
Sophomore Kaela Davis currently leads the ACC in points per game in conference play with 19.6 ppg. The Yellow Jackets have two players in the top 10 of scoring in conference games. Davis checks in at number two, while junior Aaliyah Whiteside is tied for 17th with her 14.1 points per game average. In rebounding, junior Roddreka Rogers is averaging 10.5 boards per game against conference opponents, which is fourth. 

The Yellow Jackets rank fourth in scoring offense in ACC games, averaging 68.4 points per game. Tech is hitting the offensive boards hard, averaging 16.5 offensive rebounds a game, which is third in conference games. They rank third in offensive rebound percentage with 41.2 percent.

THROWBACK TO THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Georgia Tech used a tough defensive presence to defeat Wake Forest, 79-63, at home last season. Georgia Tech forced Wake Forest to turn the ball over 29 times. The Jackets outscored the Demon Deacons, 32-8, off of turnovers and grabbed 17 steals. Ten different Jackets each recorded one steal, while Wallace led the way with three. Kaela Davis led the scoring effort with 23 points while Roddreka Rogers tallied a team-high 11 rebounds. 

REBOUNDING MACHINE
Junior Roddreka Rogers has been a huge presence on the boards for the Jackets this season, averaging 9.9 rebounds per game which ranks fifth in the ACC. During conference play, Rogers is averaging  a double-double with 10.4 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. She is fourth in the ACC in rebounds per game in conference play. 

At Clemson, Rogers pulled down 19 rebounds, a career-high. In Tech’s first meeting against Clemson, Rogers had 18 rebounds. The junior has averaged 10.8 points and 13.5 rebounds in her six career games against the Tigers.

Rogers has nine double-doubles this season, with six coming against conference opponents – Clemson (twice), North Carolina, Pittsburgh, NC State and Notre Dame. She has led the Jackets in rebounding in 19 games and has had 14 games in double-figure rebounding this season. She has grabbed at least 13 boards in the past three games.

DAVIS’ 20+ GAMES
So far this season, sophomore Kaela Davis has scored at least 20 points in 14 of 29 games. Davis is third in the ACC among active players with 14 20 point games this season. She has 28 career 20 point games and the Jackets are 20-9 when Davis scores at least 20 points. This season the Jackets are 10-4 when Davis scores at least 20. She has recorded 20 point games against eight top-25 opponents

GOING HARD IN THE PAINT
The Yellow Jackets are averaging 29.9 points per game in the paint, which is 41.0 percent of their overall points average (72.9). The Yellow Jackets have outscored their opponents in the paint in 15 out of 29 games and tied their opponents in two games. The Jackets have been strong on the offensive boards this season with a 42.1 offensive rebound percentage which ranks third in the ACC.  Tech ranks third in the ACC in offensive rebounds with an average of 16.8 a game. Georgia Tech is averaging 16.0 second chance points per game.

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK
With her 1,1230 career points, sophomore Kaela Davis checks in at 19th on Georgia Tech’s all-time scoring list. Also on that list is senior Sydney Wallace who is tied for 26th with 1,001 career points. Both Jackets are also on the 3-point field goals made in a career chart, with Wallace in sixth (167)  and Davis in seventh (145). 

Junior Aaliyah Whiteside is the next Jacket in line to score 1,000 points. Over the past three seasons, Whiteside has scored 843 points so far.

With 13 points against Miami, Davis set the new record for the most points scored in a single season by a sophomore at Georgia Tech. Her 591 points this season surpassed Kisha Ford’s record of 521 that was set in the1994-95 season. Davis owns the record for most points scored in a single-season for a freshman after she scored 594 last year. She is 19 points away from breaking the overall single season scoring record, which was set last season by Tyaunna Marshall after she scored 609 points in 2013-14. Her 591 points this season currently rank third on that list. Junior Roddreka Rogers’ 288 rebounds this season puts her in third on the single-season rebounds for a Yellow Jacket in their junior season.
