Breanna Brown Signs Grant-In-Aid for 2017-18 Season

THE FLATS — Breanna Brown, a three-year letterwinner at Oregon State, has signed a grant-in-aid agreement with Georgia Tech, head coach MaChelle Joseph announced on Wednesday. Brown has one year of eligibility remaining and as a graduate transfer, she will be eligible for the 2017-18 season.

“We are very excited to welcome Breanna to our Georgia Tech family,” commented Joseph. “She is an outstanding student-athlete. Bre has competed at the highest level and has tremendous experience! She will give us depth inside next season and provide us with a defensive presence with her shot blocking and rebounding abilities. Bre is a proven winner! We are looking forward to having her in our program.”

Brown played three seasons at Oregon State, appearing in over 80 games and helping the Beavers to three NCAA Tournament berths, including a Final Four appearance in 2016. This past season, she was a member of an OSU squad that went 31-5 overall, including a league-best 16-2 mark in the Pac-12, and reached the NCAA Sweet 16. Brown started 27-of-36 games she appeared in, led the team in blocks (1.9 bpg) and was second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 5.8 rpg. She was third on the team in scoring, averaging 7.8 ppg. Brown was tabbed Pac-12 Defensive Honorable Mention ahead of the conference tournament after finishing fifth in the league in blocked shots (1.9 bpg) and 14th in the league in rebounding (5.8 rpg).

In her first two seasons at Oregon State, Brown appeared in 48 contests, averaged 2.4 rpg, 2.2 ppg and shot 48.9 percent from the field. As a freshmen, Brown finished 11th in the Pac-12 in blocks per game and second on the team. She posted three rebounds, two points, a blocked shot and a steal off the bench against South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament. In her return from a redshirt season as a sophomore, Brown appeared in 18 games and shot 44.2 percent from the floor.

Prior to attending OSU, Brown graduated from Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, Calif., where she was rated the 49th best player in the nation by Blue Star Basketball and 65th according to the All Star Girls Report. She led her team to three Hayward Area Athletic League (HAAL) championships and one West Alameda County Conference title in 2013.
