@GTWBB Welcomes Ginger Sanford to Staff

Aug. 16, 2016

THE FLATS – After appointments with both the WNBA Atlanta Dream and the WBCA, Ginger Sanford has joined the Georgia Tech women’s basketball staff as the office manager and administration coordinator, head coach MaChelle Joseph announced Monday.

“I am very excited to add Ginger Sanford to our women's basketball staff,” Joseph said. “Ginger has tremendous experience in women's basketball. She spent five years with the WNBA Atlanta Dream as an executive assistant to the owner/CEO. She also spent this past year with the WBCA as the assistant to the CEO. Ginger’s familiarity with both Georgia Tech and women's basketball makes her a valued asset to our program. I am excited to welcome Ginger to Tech.”

“I am very grateful and excited to join Coach Joseph’s team as she begins her 14th season at Georgia Tech,” Sanford said. “The vision and core values that Coach Joseph and her staff embrace and exemplify are crucial for our student-athletes, as we nurture and help them develop the principles and tools for a successful life. I am proud to be a Yellow Jacket as we start our 2016-17 season.”

During her 20-year career in the energy field, Ginger’s personal and professional life intertwined with Georgia Tech, as she was personal assistant to supporters Garry and Kathy Betty. She also worked on Betty’s management consulting team at Ernst & Young and Scott Madden, before joining Southern Company and Mirant as Assistant to the SVP of Administration.

When Betty purchased the WNBA Atlanta Dream in 2009, Sanford jumped at the opportunity to be involved with women’s basketball. Her commitment continued when Mary Brock and Kelly Loeffler became owners, as she remained their assistant during her five years as a member of the executive staff of the WNBA Atlanta Dream, carrying the vision of helping young women and men “on and off the court.”

A native of Atlanta, Sanford’s skills learned during her consulting days while forming partnerships with clients were translated into her work with the Dream in basketball operations and relations with the community, sponsors, and season ticket holders. Sanford was honored as a member of the 2014 Georgia Tech’s Women Out Front for her work in the community and basketball.
