Getting To Know: Brittany Jackson

Once a week, RamblinWreck.com will introduce you to one of Georgia Tech’s seven women’s basketball freshmen as we get ready to tip-off the 2012-13 season Nov. 11 against Tennessee at McCamish Pavilion.

Brittany Jackson is a 5 foot, 10 inch guard from Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Fla. In 2012, Jackson led her team to the class 7A Florida state championship, the first state title in the school’s history. She averaged 23 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.5 steals over the final eight games of the state title run. Jackson was ranked No. 56 overall in the class of 2012 by ESPN HoopGurlz and No. 40 overall by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.

Jackson earned numerous accolades during her prep career. She was twice named Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers Girls Basketball Player of the Year, earning the nod in 2010 and 2012. After her senior season, she was named runner-up in Florida Miss Basketball and was selected to the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches first team in 2010 and 2012. The multi-sport star also won the 2009 and 2010 Florida class 3A state titles in the discus.
