Junkanoo Jam Game Times Changed
Georgia Tech's two game times in the Bahamas have changed
SEATTLE – All game times for the upcoming Junkanoo Jam women’s basketball tournament have been changed in an effort to accommodate team travel and practice needs, tournament directors announced Wednesday.
The tournament will continue as scheduled Nov. 24-26 at Gateway Christian Academy in Bimini, Bahamas. All games scheduled to take place Thursday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 26 will now begin one hour later than originally scheduled. All games scheduled to take place Friday, Nov. 25 will begin two hours later than originally scheduled.
The event’s opening game between Minnesota and Georgia, originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24 will now tip off at 3 p.m. Thursday’s second game featuring North Carolina and South Florida was originally scheduled for 3:15 p.m. and will now begin at 5:15 p.m.
Dayton and Georgia Tech begin their tournament Friday, Nov. 25. The game will now tip off at 3 p.m., followed by a matchup between Creighton and Missouri at 5:15 p.m. The final game on Friday will feature the losing teams from Thursday’s games with tipoff now scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
The final day of tournament action will begin at 2 p.m. Due to travel schedules, Georgia Tech will play in the opening game regardless of its result on Friday. Their opponent will be either Creighton or Missouri based upon Friday’s game results. The second game on Saturday will tip off at 4:15 p.m. and will feature Dayton against either Creighton or Missouri based upon Friday’s results. The final game of the tournament will tip off at 6:45 p.m. between the winners of Thursday’s games.
Changes were made to the game schedule after the tournament’s recent move to the Bimini Islands in the Bahamas. Damage to the hosting hotel caused by Hurricane Matthew forced the relocation of the event to North Bimini Island. With the relocation of the tournament and adjusted travel schedules and facilities, tournament directors restructured the game schedule to accommodate stakeholders’ needs.
