SCOUTING MORGAN STATE
The Bears paid a visit to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night to open up their 2014-15 campaign. The Bulldogs defeated the Bears, 68-36. Morgan State was led on offense by senior Tracey Carrington who scored 13 points and recorded a team-high three assists. It was Carrington’s 35th straight game scoring in double figures. Three Bears grabbed five rebounds apiece against the Bulldogs – Zuri White, Jayde Duncan and Simone Sampson.

SHARING IS CARING
The Yellow Jackets dished out 18 assists against Loyola Chicago in their 92-57 victory. Freshman point guard Antonia Peresson led the squad with eight assists after starting in her first career game. Following opening day, the Yellow Jackets’ 18 assists ranks third in the ACC while Peresson’s eight is the most out of all ACC players on the first day of action.

“I was really pleased with how we shared the basketball,” head caoch MaChelle Joseph said following the game at Loyola.

RAINING THREE’S
In the opening game at Loyola Chicago, Georgia Tech made 11 3-point shots which ranks third in the Georgia Tech record books for 3-pointers made in a game. After the first day of action, Georgia Tech leads the ACC in 3-pointers made with 11.

The Yellow Jackets had four players make at least two 3-point shots. Sophomore Kaela Davis led the way with a team-high four made 3-pointers while sophomore Katarina Vuckovic made three. Both freshman Antonia Peresson and senior Sydney Wallace made two each. Peresson, Wallace and Vuckovic all made two 3-point shots in the first half while Davis made one to give the Jackets seven in the first 20 minutes of play. Those seven made 3-pointers are tied for second on Tech’s Most Threes Made in a Half list.

DAVIS’ SCORING STREAK
Sophomore Kaela Davis scored a team-high 17 points at Loyola Chicago, extending her double-figure scoring streak to 13 straight-games. Davis has scored in double-figures in 30 games in her 33-game career. Against the Ramblers, Davis made four 3-point shots.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR ROGERS
Junior Roddreka Rogers opened up the 2014-15 season with a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down a team-high 13 rebounds. The double-double was the sixth of her career and the first since she scored 11 points and had 14 rebounds against Clemson on Jan. 30, 2014. When asked about her goals in the beginning of the season, Rogers stated that she wanted to average a double-double as a junior.

ON THE WAY TO 1,000
Two Yellow Jackets are closing in on 1,000 career points. Senior Sydney Wallace has 845 career points putting her 155 points shy from becoming the 27th Yellow Jacket to achieve the feat. Sophomore Kaela Davis has 611 career points, which makes her 389 points away from 1,000. Davis has played in 33 career games. The record for the fastest player to reach 1,000 points is 55 games.

PRESEASON ALL-ACC
Sophomore guard Kaela Davis was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the ACC head coaches. Davis was a member of the 2014 All-ACC Second Team and the 2014 All-ACC Freshman Team. Davis set the single season scoring record for a freshman in Georgia Tech history with 594 points last season, which ranks third on GT’s all-time list for points in a single season. Her 594 points also set the ACC freshman scoring record. Davis led all ACC rookies last season with 18.6 points per game and was honored as the ACC Rookie of the Week four times.
