Georgia Game Notes

Georgia Tech (3-3) will return home to McCamish Pavilion for the first time since Nov. 18 when the Yellow Jackets host the No. 8/9 Georgia Lady Bulldogs (8-0) at 2 p.m. Sunday. This will be the 35th meeting all-time between the Jackets and the Lady Bulldogs.

The last time Georgia came to Atlanta, then-freshman Tyaunna Marshall scored 20 points to lead Tech to a 69-53 win over No. 21/22 Georgia. It was the largest margin of victory for Tech in the two rivals’ series.

In the Jackets last outing, Marshall again powered Tech, scoring 26 points but the Jackets came up just short, suffering an 85-73 defeat at No. 14/13 Purdue in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Junior Dawnn Maye added 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds for the Jackets. Senior Jasmine Blain continued her impressive play with 10 points and eight rebounds.

The matchup with the Lady Bulldogs is the second of a tough three-game stretch that started with Purdue for Georgia Tech. The three opponents – Purdue, Georgia and Duke – have a combined record of 19-1 and all ranked in the top 15.

Georgia comes into Sunday’s game with an 8-0 record and coming off an 83-47 win over Furman on Nov. 28.

LAST TIME IN ATLANTA

The Jackets turned a one point lead into an 11 point lead midway through the second half by holding UGA to a 1-of-5 shooting streak and forcing four turnovers.

Tech’s 16-point win was the largest by the Jackets in the series.

Joseph currently has 182 wins, needing just 18 more to eclipse the mark. Her predecessor, Agnus Beranato, is the only women’s basketball coach at Tech to finish with at least 200 wins. Berenato finished her 15-year tenure leading the Yellow Jackets with a 223-209 record.

WINNING FOR 600
Joseph currently has a winning percentage of .625 (182-109). She is the only Georgia Tech coach to have won 60 percent of her games.
