CLEARWATER, Fla. – On the final day of the USF Clearwater Spring Break Tournament, the Georgia Tech softball team (12-16) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Northwestern (9-15), 3-2, Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened.
The Wildcat bats warmed up in the third inning. Northwestern scored two runs thanks to a leadoff double and a two-run home run by Andrea Filler.

Northwestern made a pitching change in the fourth inning, subbing in Kaley Winegarner for starter Kristen Wood, which worked to the Jackets’ favor. Kelsey Chisholm singled and moved up two bases on a Northwestern miscue that allowed Katie Krzus to reach base.

Krzus stole second, and Courtney Ziese’s groundout brought in Chisholm. Morgan Taylor followed with a sacrifice fly to right to bring in Krzus and knot the game at two.

In the bottom of the fifth, Georgia Tech had the based loaded with two outs thanks to a single by Lionberger, a walk issued to Pierannunzi by new pitcher Nicole Bond and a fielder’s choice on Chisholm.

The Wildcats entered their fourth pitcher, Kenzie Ellis, into the game whose wild pitch brought home Lionberger to give Tech the 3-2 lead.

Jenna Goodrich got the start and gave way to Emily Anderson (8-10) in the fourth inning. Anderson earned the win limiting the Wildcats to one hit in four shutout innings in relief.

Northwestern used four pitchers in the loss with Bond (0-1) as the pitcher of record. She allowed one run on run hits with two walks in 0.1 innings pitched.
