CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The Georgia Tech softball team (16-31, 6-15 ACC) fell 5-2 at Boston College (19-19, 3-12) in the series finale Sunday at Shea Softball Field. Courtney Ziese went 2-for-3 with a double and Maddie Lionberger went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Georgia Tech.

The Jackets are back in action for their final regular-season games of the season on April 25-26, welcoming No. 10/11 Florida State to Mewborn Field. Georgia Tech will celebrate its seniors on Saturday with a pre-game ceremony.

Tech out-hit Boston College 7-5, but the Eagles scored first in the opening frame with four runs on four hits highlighted by a solo home run by Annie Murphy and a three-run shot by Tatiana Cortez.

The Jackets loaded the bases with one out in the top of the third as Kelsey Chisholm and Chelsie Thomas both drew walks and Lionberger singled to right field. Katie Johnsky hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Chisholm to put Tech on the board.

The Eagles tacked on another run in the bottom of the third inning to extend their lead, 5-1.

Lionberger ripped a leadoff home run in the top of the seventh, her third round-tripper of the year, but the Eagles held on for the win.

Kylie Kleinschmidt (6-20) suffered the loss, allowing four runs in one inning pitched. Christina Biggerstaff entered the game in the second and pitched five innings, yielding one run and one hit with nine strikeouts.

Boston College’s Allyson Frei (14-12) earned the win, limiting the Jackets to two runs on seven hits in a complete game effort.
