The matchup is the second-to-last home game for the Jackets this season and will mark Georgia Tech’s ‘Gold Out’ game. The Jackets enter the week with an overall record of 21-17, while No. 15/18 Georgia is 35-8 on the year.

Please note the game time was moved to 7 p.m. as opposed to the original 5 p.m. start. Parking is available in the McCamish Lot, Eighth Street and Fowler Street. The game will air on ESPN3 with Melissa Lee and Roddy Jones on the call.

Series History
Georgia leads the all-time series 23-10, and the Bulldogs narrowly won the first matchup this season, 9-7, in Athens.

Earlier this season, the Bulldogs rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim a 9-7 victory against Georgia Tech. The contest featured four lead changes, and the Yellow Jackets out-hit the
Bulldogs, 12-9.

Notes
No Place Like Home: In an unexpected turn of events, the Georgia Tech softball team has played more games on its home field this season than any other. Of 46 total games on the docket, Tech will play 33 on its home field by the regular season’s end.

Since the Yellow Jackets were unable to make it to the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. due to weather issues, the six games Tech co-hosted in the Panther Invite became part of a 21-game stretch of home field advantage. The previous record streak was a mere 12-straight games played at home by the 2010 ACC Championship squad.

Grand Slam Sam: In the doubleheader sweep against North Carolina, freshman Samantha Pierannunzi was 3-for-6 at the plate and her third-inning grand slam in game two scored the go-ahead run for the Jackets. It marked the second grand slam this season by a Georgia Tech freshman to as Colleen Darragh hit the first grand slam this season against Virginia (March 12).

She has been clutch at the plate for the Yellow Jackets. She made the most of her first collegiate at bat as a pinch hitter when she smacked a two-RBI double to give Tech its final 11-2 run-rule advantage against Stony Brook. Her offensive production earned her a spot in the starting lineup and she has started the last 11 games in right field. Of her 14 hits on the season, six have been for extra bases.

Up Next: The Yellow Jackets continue ACC play this weekend with a pivotal three-game series at ACC newcomer Pittsburgh. Only the top eight of the 11 teams in the ACC qualify for the 2014, and Tech is currently in seventh in the ACC standings.

Boston College holds the eighth spot, but has five tough ACC games this week, including a doubleheader with Syracuse and a three-game series NC State. Pitt is in ninth place and plays a doubleheader against No. 7/8 Florida State before taking on Tech.
