@GaTechSoftball Announces 2016 Schedule

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team released its 2016 schedule, which features 25 games against 12 2015 NCAA Tournament participants and 27 home games at Mewborn Field. The Yellow Jackets kick off the 56-game slate Feb. 17 at Georgia State.  

Twelve of the teams Tech plays this season advanced to a 2015 NCAA Regional (St. John’s, South Carolina, Louisville, Chattanooga, Northwestern, UCF, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Kansas, Pitt, North Carolina and NC State), and NC State made it to the Super Regionals.

After opening the season at Georgia State, the Jackets welcome Ohio State, Purdue and Syracuse to Mewborn Field to host the ACC/Big 10 Challenge, which will be followed with a midweek doubleheader against St. John’s in Atlanta.

The Jackets head west to Santa Barbara, Calif. to play Southern Utah, South Carolina and Cal Santa Barbara on Feb. 26-28, and return home to host Mercer for a doubleheader before beginning ACC play on the road at Louisville (March 5-6). 

The Jackets host Boston College on March 12-13, then play nine-straight non-conference games, including five games at the USF Tournament in Tampa, Fla. on March 18-20.

The Jackets host ACC series with Virginia Tech (March 25-26), Virginia (April 23-24) and North Carolina (May 7-8), and are on the road at Syracuse (April 2-3), Pitt (April 16-17), and NC State (April 30-May 1).

NC State is set to host the 2016 ACC Tournament May 12-14 in Raleigh, N.C.

The annual two-game series against Georgia is slated to start in Athens on March 29 and the Jackets host the Bulldogs on April 13.
