Nannie de Villiers, a former Women's Tennis Association (WTA) doubles and International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles champion, begins her second season as the assistant coach for the Georgia Tech women's tennis program. Wellknown around the world for her doubles play, the Somerset West, South Africa native is responsible for assisting with recruiting and individual skills development, coordinating team travel, and the team clothing distribution at Georgia Tech.
De Villiers brings more than ten years of professional playing experience to the Yellow Jacket program, most recently winning the 2002 Canberra, Australia WTA Doubles Title and finishing as a WTA Doubles Finalist in both Waikoloa, Hawaii (2002) and Canberra (2001). She won the Junior Doubles Title at the 1994 Wimbledon and was a 1999 semifinalist and 2000 quarterfinalist in the French Open Mixed Doubles competition. The following year, she was a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon with partner Myles Wakefield.
A representative on the South African Fed Cup team from 1995-2003, de Villiers won a pair of ITF Singles Titles in both 1994 and 1997 and became a member of the New York Buzz, of World Team Tennis, in July, 2001.
Aside from her professional tennis career, de Villiers has provided television and radio commentary for multiple tennis events and has participated in numerous pro-am events throughout her career.
Born in Windhoek, Namibia, de Villiers now resides in Decatur, Ga.
