Yellow Jackets Win Five Of Six Matches At Michigan Invite
Senior Elizabeth Kilborn earns third singles ranked win of the year

THE FLATS - The 20th-ranked Georgia Tech women's tennis team won five of six singles matches against No. 43 USF on the final day of the Michigan Invitational Monday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Senior Elizabeth Kilborn, ranked No. 39, earned a three-set victory over No. 35 Katie Vasenina. After cruising to a 6-1 first set win, Kilborn fell 6-2 in the second but rallied in the third to claim a 6-1 set win and take the match. Kilborn also defeated then-29th ranked Vasenina 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 in the fall.
Freshman Kendal Woodard earned her ninth singles win of the year over Danielle Mills. After taking the first set 6-2, Mills was forced to retire with Woodard leading 2-1 in the second set.
"We played very well today," head coach Rodney Harmon said. "After a number of close matches this weekend, we were able to use that experience to win a number of big points that allowed us to win five of six singles matches. USF has a very good team, so I am happy with our performance going into this weekend at the University of Nebraska."
Freshman Megan Kurey finished the three-day tournament with a 2-0 mark after knocking off Fanny Fracassi, 6-2, 7-6 (5). Classmate Natasha Prokhnevska grabbed her seventh victory of the year with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Paula Montoya. Junior Muriel Wacker earned her first singles victory of the year, beating Alessandra Bonte in just two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Tech will now head to Lincoln, Neb., and the University of Nebraska for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Jackets will face No. 19 Notre Dame on Saturday and either No. 17 Nebraska or No. 23 Tennessee on Sunday. Tech will be trying to earn its spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., Feb. 8-11.
