WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team (7-6, 4-3 ACC) rolled to a 7-0 victory at
Wake Forest (12-8 (2-6 ACC) on Friday evening.

“I felt like we played well today,” head coach Rodney Harmon said. “We played really well and number one and number three doubles. We had momentum heading into singles. I felt like we played pretty strongly on every court.”

The Yellow Jackets cruised to two quick victories in doubles on courts one and three to take a quick one point lead in the match. The #22 ranked doubles pair of junior Kendal Woodard and freshman Paige Hourigan dropped Andrea Retolaza and Xue Zhange, 8-2, to remain undefeated in doubles play this spring at 7-0.

Sophomore Rasheeda McAdoo and freshman Johnnise Renaud were quick to finish up next, defeating Luisa Fernandez and Karen Forman, 8-3, to clinch the doubles point in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

Five out of six singles matches were won two sets by the Jackets on the way to a 7-0 victory. On court four, freshman Alexis Prokopuik blanked Kasey Gardiner in set one 6-0. In set two, Prokopuik held a 2-0 lead before the match was retired.

In the number two spot, #70 Hourigan recorded back-to-back 6-2, 6-2 wins against Xue Zhang to give the Jackets a 3-0 lead. The match was clinched on four one when #92 Renaud took down Guerin, 6-3, 6-3.

McAdoo made it 5-0 in favor of the Yellow Jackets after defeating Forman, 6-2, 6-4. A 7-5, 6-4 win against Courtney Meredith by Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer pushed the Jackets’ lead to 6-0

It was a battle on court three between Woodard and Fernandez. Woodard took set one, 7-5, but Fernandez came back to win set two, 6-4. Woodard then rallied to win the tiebreaker set, 10-6. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, traveling to #17 Duke at noon.
