TULSA, Okla. – Georgia Tech tennis players Johnnise Renaud and Paige Hourigan both fell in their second-round matches of the NCAA singles competition on Thursday, and the pairing of Hourigan and Kendal Woodard fell in the first round of the doubles competition.

Renaud lost her first set by a wide margin to Ohio State’s Franccesca Di Lorenzo, and she lost a more competitive second set to the No. 3 player in the country and fell by a score of 6-1, 6-3. She finished her sophomore season with a singles record of 24-14.

Hourigan got off to a fast start against Rice’s Katherine Ip, but her opponent rallied to win a thoroughly entertaining match by a score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. She finished the year with a singles record of 22-13.

Woodard and Hourigan started slow against Pepperdine’s Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai and Luisa Stefani, but they were able to bounce back with an impressive second set. However, Pepperdine won the tiebreaker and took the match by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) to end the season for the Jackets. The pairing finished the season with a record of 25-9.

“It was a tough day at the office,” Head coach Rodney Harmon said. “We lost a few tight matches. The girls fought and competed hard. We had a good season and I’m looking forward to starting with next season’s team when school starts in August.”
