Georgia Tech women’s tennis wraps up strong weekend in Rhode Island
NEWPORT, R.I. – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team concluded its first weekend of fall competition on Sunday on the final day of the Hall of Fame/ITA Grass Court Invitational. The Yellow Jackets wrapped up their first weekend of competition on grass.
Seniors Rasheeda McAdoo and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer and freshmen Kenya Jones, Nadia Gizdova and Nami Otsuka all went 2-1 on the weekend following Sunday’s round of play. McAdoo dropped her first match of the weekend on Sunday, falling to Oklahoma State’s Vladica Babic in a three-set thriller, while Jones also fell on Sunday in a three-set tiebreak to Sophia Blanco also of Oklahoma State.
After falling yesterday, freshman Nami Otsuka bounced back with a three-set win over Harvard’s Irene Lu, while classmate Luca Fabian picked up her first win of the weekend, defeating Annika Ringblom in three sets.
Wrapping up competition for Tech, Nadia Gizdova and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer both dropped hard-fought matches on Sunday.
Georgia Tech continues fall competition next weekend participating in the Bulldog Challenge in Athens, Sept. 23-25.
