Atlanta - Junior Elizabeth Kilborn was named ACC Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Kilborn finished last weekend with a 3-0 record and helped the Yellow Jackets advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Kilborn improved to a combined 12-1 this season with a pair of singles wins at No. 3 and a doubles win at No. 2. She is now 6-1 this season in singles play and a perfect 6-0 in doubles with partner Lynn Blau.
"Elizabeth is playing outstanding tennis," head coach Bryan Shelton said. "She has certainly worked hard over her time here at Georgia tech. She is doing equally well in the classroom and finished last semester with a 4.0. As far as her tennis goes, she is moving better than ever on the court and she knows exactly what she needs to do to be successful. She is doing it in singles and doubles, she is the total package."
In Tech's two wins over No. 54 Georgia State and No. 27 South Carolina, Kilborn lost only two games in singles play. She defeated the Panthers' Maryna Kozachenko 6-0, 6-1 at the third spot of the lineup Friday and 80th-ranked Dijana Stojic of South Carolina 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 on Saturday.
She teamed with Blau for an 8-2 win over the Gamecocks' doubles pair of Josefin Anderson and Anya Morgina at No. 2 doubles Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets will host 50th-ranked Princeton at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Bill Moore Tennis Center before heading to Charlottesville, Va., for ITA National Team Indoor Championships Feb. 10-13.
