Women’s Tennis Visits Georgia Friday

THE FLATS – The No. 11 Georgia Tech women’s tennis team travels to Athens on Friday for a clean, old-fashioned showdown against Georgia at 3 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

THE SCENE: Georgia Tech looks to head into ACC play on Sunday on a three-match win streak, facing the Bulldogs on Friday. The Jackets are coming off a pair of 7-0 sweeps over Chattanooga and Georgia Southern to carry an 8-2 overall record into weekend play. Georgia, ranked No. 13 in the latest ITA rankings and fifth in the USTA rankings, owns a 6-1 record on the young season. Georgia leads the all-time series 24-4 over Tech. The Jackets last defeated the Bulldogs on March 20, 2010 in Atlanta.

ITA RANKINGS – Georgia Tech remains the 11th-ranked team in the country after the latest ITA polls were released this week. The Jackets also boast two singles players in the national rankings as Rasheeda McAdoo sits at No. 71, while freshman Nami Otuska owns a No. 102 rankings. The Jackets also boast the No. 7 doubles tandem in the country in Johnnise Renaud and Rasheeda McAdoo. The pair of Paige Hourigan and Kenya Jones own a national ranking of No. 30. The Bulldogs have Eleni Christofi (No. 15), Carolina Brinson (No. 41), Kennedy Shaffer (No. 44), Ellen Perez (No. 62) and Marta Gonzalez (No. 111) ranked nationally in singles.

UP NEXT – The Jackets open ACC play on Sunday welcoming No. 36 Florida State for a 12 p.m. match at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
