Women’s Tennis Earns No. 2 Seed in ACC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Finishing the regular season winners of the last six matches, the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team has earned the No. 2 seed in the 2018 ACC Championship and received a double-bye to the quarterfinals. The Jackets will open the tournament on Friday at 11:30 a.m. The ACC Championship returns to the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. and begins Wednesday, April 25.

Tech (20-4, 12-2 ACC) owns a 27-25 overall record when competing in the ACC Championship dating back to 1986. The Jackets have won four ACC Tournament titles in program history – 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010. Last season, the third-seeded Jackets advanced to the title match, where they fell to North Carolina, 4-3.

The Jackets last earned the No. 2 seed in 2007 when they claimed their fourth ACC Championship title. Since head coach Rodney Harmon took over the program in 2013, Tech earned its highest seeding of No. 3 the past two seasons in the tournament. Under the guidance of Harmon, Tech owns an 8-5 record when competing in the ACC Championship.

The final two days of the 2018 ACC Championship will be covered live on ACC Network Extra. The semifinal on Saturday featuring the highest remaining seed will be broadcasted live as both semifinal matches are set to serve at 10 a.m. The championship match will take place on Sunday, April 29 at 10 a.m.

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL: Fans can find complete information on the tournament via the championship central page. Duke secured the top seed in the tournament, while North Carolina earned the three seed, followed by Miami as the four seed completing the teams that earned double-byes into the quarterfinals.
