Women’s Tennis Inks Three to Signing Class

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team has inked three future Yellow Jackets to National Letters of Intent as announced by head coach Rodney Harmon. The Jackets signed Valeriya Deminova, Baijing Lin and Dalila Said to the 2018-19 roster.

“We are excited to be bringing in three very talented athletes into our program next year,” commented Harmon. “Valeriya, Baijing and Dalila all showcase what we look for in a recruit having great Juniors records and excellent academic achievements. We will be excited to welcome them to The Flats in the fall.”

A top prospect out of Moscow, Russia, Deminova grew up training at Spartak Tennis Club, former training ground to professional tennis players Anna Kournikova, Dinara and Marat Safin, and Elena Dementieva. Deminova has been ranked as high as No. 71 in the world in Juniors and has won multiple ITF singles and doubles titles including a Grade 2 in Ukraine and a Grade 3 event in Russia. Additionally, the Russian native has competed in both the Junior Wimbledon and Junior French Open tournaments.

Lin, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, earned her highest Junior ranking of No. 40 in the world. Highlights of her junior career include reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Junior Open and winning a Grade 1 singles title in Thailand.

A talented player from Cairo, Egypt, Said has been training in Valencia, Spain and has been ranked as high as No. 97 in the world in Juniors. She has won multiple ITF singles titles including a Grade 2 IFT in Egypt and reaching the finals of a Grade 2 in Tunisia.
