Georgia Tech Women's Tennis Heads To Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team resumes its fall schedule this weekend with the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Five Yellow Jackets will participate in the event, beginning with the prequalification rounds starting on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Senior Jillian O’Neill, ranked 21st in the preseason Campbell/ITA Division I Tennis Rankings, is the second alternate to the main draw will begin play in the qualifying singles draw. She will be joined in the qualifying stage by fellow seniors Caroline Lilley, ranked 69th, and Viet Ha Ngo, ranked 44th.

Elizabeth Kilborn, and senior Lynn Blau, ranked 124th, will start their tournament playing in the prequalifying draw. Kilborn will face William & Mary sophomore Jeltje Loomans, ranked 91st, at 9:45 a.m. PT at the LA Tennis Center. Her second round prequalifying match would take place at 1:45 p.m. PT on the Sycamore Courts and would be against the winner of Texas Tech’s Elizabeth Ullathorne or Utah’s Sarah Pham.

Blau will face Hawaii junior Katarina Poljakova in her prequalifying first round match at 11:30 a.m. PT at the LA Tennis Center. Her second round prequalifying match would take place at 4:30 p.m. PT at the LA Tennis Center against either Duke’s Monica Gorny or Penn State’s Petra Januskova.

The doubles team of O’Neill and Lilley, ranked No. 6, has earned a spot in the main draw of the doubles draw, and the Tech pair of Blau and Kilborn will begin play in the doubles prequalifying stage.

Blau and Kilborn drew the Eastern Michigan team of senior Miriam Westerink and sophomore Nino Mebuke at 8 a.m. PT on Saturday at the LA Tennis Center.
