BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Georgia Tech track and field freshman Bria Matthews continued her success this indoor season with a seventh-place finish in the long jump at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Matthews entered the event ranked No. 11 in the country and pulled off the seventh-place finish with a jump of 6.39m (20-11.75) to earn first team All-America honors.

“Bria did a great job today and we’re proud of her,” head women’s track and field coach Alan Drosky said. “She handled the competitive environment like a seasoned veteran. Her series of jumps was outstanding and she has some great momentum going into tomorrow’s triple jump competition. A big congrats goes out to her and jumps coach Nat Page.”
