@GT_TrackNField Completes Spec Towns Invite

ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Tech track and field team completed the second and final day at the Spec Towns Invite at Spec Towns Track on Saturday. The Jackets are back in action April 17-18 when they host the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Saturday’s competition featured a slate of women’s competition. In the field events, Donjhae Jones took fourth in the long jump with a season-best distance of 5.80m (19-00.50). Jasmine Bush logged a personal-best long jump of 5.50m (18-00.50).

Samantha Becker matched her career-best pole vault with a height of 4.15m (13-07.25) to tie for second place. Sarah Zimmerman placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.55m (11-07.75).

Bailey Weiland placed fourth in the high jump with a 1.72m (5-07.75) performance.

On the track, Katie Townsend finished first for Tech and seventh overall in the 1,500 meters in a career-best time of 4:35.77. Melissa Fairey followed in 11th with a career-best time of 4:37.51. Both career-best times for the top two Tech finishers are almost 10 seconds better than their previous bests.

Christina Pensock placed third in the 800 meters in a time of 2:12.98.

Kenya Collins missed her PR in the 100-meter hurdles by one one-hundredth of a second to finish in 14.10 for second place. Also in the hurdles, Ama Larbi placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.77, and Shannon Innis (PR — 1:01.23) and Kamilah Bakari (PR — 1:05.04) finished third and fourth, respectively.

In the sprints, Jamilah Middlebrooks ran the 100 meters in a PR time of 12.00 for fourth place. Middlebrooks placed second overall in the 200 meters in a career-best time of 23.92.
