FSU Relays Results

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field posted seven top-three finishes and 21 career bests on Friday at the FSU Relays and Raleigh Relays. Marinice Bauman led the way with a first-place finish and career best time in the 400m hurdles in Tallahassee.

“I was very pleased with our 4 x 100m relay today,” said men’s track and field head coach Grover Hinsdale. “Also, Zach Gunnz ran an outstanding 200m race today as well as Andreas Ward in the 110m hurdles. We had several guys compete in their alternate events today which did not help with the team effort but I believe it will be a benefit as we prepare for next weekend’s meet at Florida.”

“The women had some really exciting performances today,” said women’s track and field head coach Alan Drosky. “Starting with the 100m hurdles, Jeanine Williams had a huge breakthrough running an outstanding race, and Kenya Collins, while just off her personal best, is very close to doing something just like Jeanine. Raven Stewart is looking better every week also. Those three joined with Brianna Hayden on the 4x100m relay and got the win while breaking forty-five seconds, which is a huge performance for them. And then in the 400m hurdles, Nicey Bauman broke the sixty-second barrier for the first time in another big performance for us. Charlotte Stephens also had a big breakthrough in the 800m.

“At the Raleigh Relays, Melissa Fairey and Mary Prouty performed very well. So the women took some big steps today, and we’re poised to see a number of other women do some big things in the coming weeks.”
