Tech Preps for Two-Meet Weekend at Penn Relays, North Florida

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech outdoor track and field hits the home stretch before championship season, heading to two meets this weekend, the Penn Relays and the North Florida Invitational on April 26-28.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off an impressive weekend on The Flats at the Georgia Tech Invitational where they posted first-place finishers in the pole vault (Ksenia Novikova), 400m (Daniel Pietsch), 800m (Avery Bartlett), 100m hurdles (Jeanine Williams) and 5K (Nicole Fegans).

Nahom Solomon also continued his historic season by heading out west to the Mt. SAC Relays where he broke the 10K school record by more than 14 seconds.

In the meet as a whole, more than 20 PRs and more than 10 top-10 ACC times were recorded in the ultra-successful home meet. Entering this weekend, the Jackets accumulated 33 top-10 ACC times and 11 top-20 NCAA East marks on their resume.

Georgia Tech has three meets remaining on the schedule before the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Miami, Fla. on May 10-12. After this weekend, the Yellow Jackets will head just up the road to compete in the Torrin Lawrence Invitational in Athens, Ga. on May 5.
