MANHATTAN, Kan. – In the teams’ first meeting, the Georgia Tech volleyball team (4-0) swept Tennessee State (4-1) at the K-State Invitational on Friday night.
How It Happened
Georgia Tech jumped out to an 8-2 lead in set one. The Yellow Jackets extended that to 17-8, eventually winning 25-13 while holding the Tigers to a -.143 hitting clip.
Tech kept that momentum into the second set going up 16-8, before winning 25-14. In set three, it was the Tigers’ turn to jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Jackets came back to pull within one, 11-10, and turned the tide to win the set 25-17.

“It was a good first match to get things rolling this weekend,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “It was good to see a lot of contribution from everyone. We have another big challenge ahead of us tomorrow and I am looking forward to see how our team steps up to it.”

– Lauren Pitz put down five kills with no errors on eight swings (.625) and Teegan Van Gunst tallied five kills.

What’s Next
The Jackets take on Michigan (4-0) on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET, followed by an 8:30 p.m. ET match against host K-State (2-2) on ESPN3.
