Louisville Defeats @GTVolleyball, 3-0
Yellow Jackets back in action Sunday against Notre Dame
THE FLATS - The Georgia Tech volleyball team (11-6, 2-3 ACC) fell to Louisville (11-4, 5-0) Friday night in Georgia Tech's Jackets for the Cure pink match.
How it Happened
The opening set was a back and forth battle with Louisville pulling away late to win 25-18. The Yellow Jackets had to play catch up in the second set after falling behind 14-7. The momentum stayed in Louisville's favor and the Cardinals won game two, 25-17.
There were six tied scores and three lead changes in set three. The Cardinals opened up a two-point lead at 10-8 to make it 12-8, and never looked back, winning the game 25-13 to capture the 3-0 victory.
"We continued to struggle on offense and Louisville just executed at a very high level," head coach Michelle Collier said. "At the end of the day you just won't beat a team like that with the numbers we had offensively. We have to refocus and find a way to execute better as a team on Sunday."
- Teegan Van Gunst led all players with 13 kills, and Ashley Askin added seven kills.
- Gabby Benda had her second double-double of the season with 19 assists and a team-best 10 digs. London Ackermann contributed eight digs.
The Yellow Jackets host Notre Dame on Sunday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
